Armed men break into water reservoir

The Springs SAPS are investigating the armed robbery that occurred at Pam Brink water reservoir on Monday.

Two men burgled the PAM Brink water reservoir on August 11.

According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, three security officers were on duty on the premises when two armed men ambushed them.

The attackers were armed with a handgun and a crowbar. They searched and tied the guards with their shoelaces.

Tshabalala added the robbers informed the guards they had information on the site and inquired why they were not given jobs.

The men made off with three cellphones, three pairs of security boots and a backpack.

Tshabalala said the men gained entry by cutting a lock used to secure the main gate.

The officers also discovered the main pump room lock broken and electrical cabling in several panel boxes removed.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
