Robbers hit fast food outlet in Selection Park

Springs Police are investigating a case of business robbery after a fast food outlet in Selection Park was robbed by four men on Sunday evening.

The Springs police are on the hunt for four robbers who targeted a fast food outlet in Selection Park on Sunday evening.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, it is alleged that two women approached the security guard at the eatery, saying that they did not have transport to take them home.

“The security guard allowed them into the guard room,” said Tshabalalala.
Tshabalala said four men wearing balaclavas allegedly entered the room at around 02:00 and robbed the security guard of his cellphone and gate key.

The robbers tied up the security guard with cable ties, and he told the two women to remain silent while they proceeded to the premises of the eatery.

“During the robbery, one of the women ran away, and the other one helped to untie the guard, after which she ran away as well,” said Tshabalala.

The security guard alleged that he attempted to press the panic button several times. A security company arrived at 05:00.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the robbers gained entry through the back of the eatery.

“One safe was opened inside the shop with the safe key, and an unknown amount of money was taken. The other safe was forced open, but there was no money inside.”

Tshabalala added that no firearms were involved and no assault took place.
