Bobbies Junior Rugby Club is mourning the loss of one of its founding members and beloved pillars, Dudley Laing, who died on August 13 at the age of 70.
For the Bobbies Junior Rugby Club family, Dudley was far more than a founding member. He was part of the heart and soul of the club and a man who believed in the power of rugby to bring children, families and communities together.
His passing has left a deep void among players, coaches, parents, friends and the many young rugby players whose journeys were touched by his presence, encouragement and unwavering commitment.
A memorial service was held on August 19, where members of the Bobbies family gathered to honour and celebrate the remarkable legacy Dudley leaves behind.

The service was not only a time of mourning, but also a celebration of a life that made a meaningful difference. Stories and memories were shared.
Dudley’s legacy can be seen every time a young player steps onto the rugby field. It is in every tackle, every pass, every try and every moment when a child learns the values of teamwork, discipline, courage and perseverance.
For those who knew him, Dudley represented the spirit of Bobbies: family, commitment, faith and, above all, putting the children first.
