The Springs-based Kishou Karate team recently participated in the Spartans Clash Karate Championship at Turffontein, where they produced outstanding results.

Under the guidance of instructor Sensei Charmian Esterhuizen, six students displayed courage and discipline, bringing home an impressive 11 medals. This included three gold, seven silver, and one bronze.

“Each competitor showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship, representing Springs with pride and determination,” Esterhuizen said.

She added that their performances proved that hard work pays off.

“It’s not just about medals; it’s about growth, respect and perseverance. The dojo’s success highlights the strength of local youth development in martial arts and the growing popularity of karate in the Springs community,” she said.

She highlighted how parents and fellow karatekas celebrated the team’s achievements, marking this event as one of the most successful outings for the club this year.
