Deolene Pienaar wins a car from the Meat World competition
Geluksdal resident Deolene Pienaar won a brand new car from a competition that was ran by Meat World and expressed gratitude to the company.
Deolene Pienaar (38) from Geluksdal was surprised and excited after winning a car in a Meat World-run competition.
Pienaar came to Meat World in Springs on October 17 to pick up her brand-new car with her family.
Speaking to Springs Advertiser, Pienaar said she entered the competition while buying meat for a braai. She noticed the competition in-store after a security guard encouraged her to enter.
“I always enter competitions, so on the day I just came to buy meat because we had a braai that day. The security guard told me that there was a competition and I should fill in the competition entry, so I did,” she said.
Pienaar said her sister was with her when she entered and helped her put the slip in the car, which was used as a collection box. When she learned she had won, she struggled to believe it.

“I was so surprised and excited. I could not believe it. I kept looking at my phone to see if it was really real or a scam,” she said.
She shared that her sister was the first person she told and she was also in disbelief. Winning the car came at the right time for Pienaar, who had been planning to get a new vehicle.
“It means a lot because my sister and I were planning to get a new car. We wanted to save up for one or take out a loan, and this came at the right time,” she said.
She said the new vehicle would make a difference in her daily life, particularly when travelling to work in Fourways, and she looks forward to using it to get to work and carry out her daily activities.

Springs branch general manager Paulos Santos said Meat World was pleased to give back to the community through initiatives such as the competition.
“We are glad to give back to the community all the time. The car went to a special person, and it also helps us put the company out there,” he said.
Santos said the competition attracted numerous entries, with 20 finalists selected from 200 entry forms distributed across the branches. He said the company had given away cars in previous years and decided to bring the initiative back after a break.
“We have been giving cars for a couple of years. We always gave one car per store, and this came up again. We have not done a car giveaway in a while, so we decided to do it,” he said.

Santos added that Meat World wanted to keep rewarding customers with competitive prices, especially as households face financial pressure.
“We are here to give the best prices and the best we can. Times are tough, and we are trying to do the best that we can,” he said.
Pienaar thanked Meat World for the competition and said she remained a loyal customer because of the quality of its meat.
“I just want to say thank you so much for the competition and for drawing my name. The meat here is awesome. I always come here to buy meat because it is the best,” she concluded.
