Nikita Koch won the Best Newcomer floating trophy and the Best Centre trophy at the recent South African Police Service Netball Championships.

She is currently working for the Crime Information Management Centre as administration clerk with Captain Terry Terblanche

This former Dr Johan Jurgens pupil has always been interested in the sport and started playing netball at school in Grade 10. She was team captain for two years.

“After school I played korfbal until March when the SAPS netball trials started,” says Nikita.

She joined the netball team in March and Nikita is part of the SAPS Provincial Gauteng team who won gold medals at the championships.

Nikita says there were 10 teams from different provinces participating in the championships from October 4 to 11 held in Kimberly.

“Out team are the winners within the netball circles of SAPS,” says a proud Nikita.

Not only is Nikita part of a winning team, she also won player of the match at the recent Limpopo Games. And if that is not all, she was selected for the SAPS National Team and the SAPS National Squad.

“I was overwhelmed as well as shocked, but to be honest, I couldn’t have done it without the team,” she adds.

Her co-workers and Capt Terry say they are very proud of her achievements.
