Team building relay success

The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as teams lined up at the starting point at the Garbie Corporate Road Relay at the Springs Rugby Club on Sunday.

With 28 teams running and 22 walking, the different colours and outfits were the highlight of the day. On invitation even animals and their owners participated in the relay.

“There were great excitement amongst the teams,” says event coordinator Rhoda Steyn.

The first running team to arrive was the men from Tsakane Athletic Club with a time of 1:14:06. The first woman’s team arriving was the Pink Ladies at 1:33:10 followed by the first mixed team Young and Old at 1:49:01 and then the U/19 Kwatsaduza Boys at 1:20:33.

Benoni Northerns Athletics Club walking teams were the winners in the men’s, woman’s and mixed teams events, but the first U/13 mixed team was won by the Hasie Team.

The highlight of the day was the winners of the best dressed team and the Hobos and the Tramps walked away with this prize.

Rhoda adds the day was well attended and the athletes thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
