Deon ‘Smitty’ Smit caught the heaviest bag at the angling competition of the Dagga Angling Club, held at Vogelsdam on the February 15.
Smitty’s bag had a weight of 17.220kg. He also won the prize for the second biggest carp, weighing 6.3kg
At this competition, held to commemorate the club’s 75th birthday, there was a field of 90 anglers that bagged a total of 94 fish, weighing 215kg.
The heaviest carp prize was won by Hendrik Esterhuizen with a carp of 6.5 kg.
Johan Terblanche had the prize for the second heaviest bag with 13.316kg.
Dagga Angling Club is planning its next open competition, a day-and-night, also at Vogelsdam.from April 12 to 13.
