Springs’ canoeist races through water

Springsite Tommy Booth finished the seeding race in 11th place overall.

Tommy Booth has been paddling seriously for only a couple of years and took part in the ERK Dusi training race early in January.

He is looking forward to the Dusi challenge next month, an endurance canoe race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

The popular race took place at Homestead Dam and attracted over 80 canoeists, mostly those striving to build up stamina and fitness for the Dusi challenge in February

The race included top quality canoeing and provided meals to all participants afterwards.

The 22km race included two portages of 2km each on the side of the dam, where participants had to carry their boats, in the Dusi tradition.
