A windy day greeted 85 golfers who turned out for the seventh annual Springs Central Air Scouts fund-raising Golf Day at Pollak Park Golf Club on Sunday.
Teams worked their way around the course playing a four-ball alliance two to count, with nearest to the pin and a competition at hole 17.
According to Gizelle van Jaarsveldt, one of the organisers, the event has been held annually for the past seven years.
“Proceeds will be used to assist with paying the subsidies to our head office and to put up a fence around the scout hall for the safety of the children,” says van Jaarsveldt.
This year’s winners were Bazil Houndalas, Darrell Penny, Travis Goodman and Tyrone Roodt who obtained 96 points.
Second place saw Garth McKay, Ken Boucher, Janna de Jager and Eddie Browning with 95 points followed by Neill Muller, Chris Coetzer, Greg Jamison and Hilton Jamison in fourth place with 95 points.
Nearest the pin was taken by Houndalas at hole four, Byron Temruette at hole six and Dave Nagel at hole 17.
Golfers joined each other in the hall for lunch and the prize-giving.
“We would like to thank all of those who attended the event,” says van Jaarsveldt.
