u-9s win Easterns League
The Springs Old Boys' u-9 premier team played against Edenvale on Sunday.
The team was at the top of the log throughout league and won the final game 2-0.
Coach Nino Lopes says it wasn’t just eastern teams who played in the league, but other teams from the north and south as well.
“Many more teams participated in this league and our team had to fight extra hard.
“They were undefeated at home grounds during the entire league,” he says.
The u-9 team was also the team which scored the most goals and conceded the fewest goals in the league.
During the league games, the team also participated in the Easterns Cup which works on a knockout basis.
Coach Nino says they are the only team from Springs to make it through to the cup.
SOB u-9 premier team will play in the finals on Saturday against Sporting from Bedfordview.
“The boys really fought hard this season and the results showed.
“They knew what they had to achieve and they did it,” says Nino.
Landre Potgieter and Quewyn Magalhaes scored the goals for the u-9 team on Sunday.
The coach is incredibly proud of the entire team for upholding Springs’ name.
“They worked hard, were committed to training and came out on top despite so many other teams taking part.
“Well done, boys.”
