XKT Springs Kickboxing Club performs well at the national championships

XKT Springs Kickboxing Club members come back with medals from national championships.

The XKT Springs Kickboxing Club performed well at the national championships in Pretoria at the end of last month.

The club, which boasts 32 members, sent seven fighters to the championships and five of them came back with medals.

The fighters competed in a variety of categories ranging from Semi Light to Full Contact.

“This is not the first time we have competed nationally.

“It’s a great experience for us because we compete against the best in the country.

“We hope to make the South African team, but we will only know later this month,” says Sensei Rina Labuschagne.

The club is not just about kickboxing. They also offer self-defence classes and basic fitness classes.

There is a mixture of men and women, young and old at the club and they disprove common misconceptions pertaining to fighters.

“People think we are fighters and we’re all macho, but we’re not.

“We are disciplined and not aggressive.

“We don’t have to prove anything to anyone,” says Warren de Beer.

The club is open to new members and practice is on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 6.15pm.
