Boca Juniors win Easterns League

The coach says winning the league wouldn't have been possible without the commitment showed by the players and their families.

Boca Juniors u-10 team from Bakerton and Payneville have won the Easterns League Football Association League 2 for the first time in their history.

Their win this season made up for the agony they felt when they finished as runner-up last season in the same league by a mere three points

Coach Adnaan Paul says the u-10 league is very competitive and described the season as tough but awesome.

“We played all our games away this season as our home ground was being renovated.

“It was challenging but it only gave us extra motivation to win,” says Paul.

Paul says the addition of a few players from Payneville helped the team tremendously and kept the squad fresh and he could substitute players easily.

“I’m very proud of them,” says Paul.

With the win, Boca Juniors has been promoted to play in the division one league.

“It’s going to be a different challenge for us.

“We’ve played some of the teams in division one and beat them during the cup games, so we’ve got an idea of what we’ll be up against,” says Paul.

Unfortunately, the team could not end their season by adding more silverware to their trophy cabinet.

Boca Juniors lost the EFLA Cup this past Sunday when they went up against premier league team Bedfordview FC u-10.

Paul says this was unfortunately a case of David vs Goliath, but unfortunately David was not able to win this time around.
