Real Touch FC showed no mercy to Springs Galaxy 11 u-19 as they beat them 6-1 during the Slovo Park Hlanganani Festive Games on Saturday morning.

The Daveyton-based team was clinical and punished their opponents quickly.

Despite his team’s impressive win, coach Junior Malatsi says the team struggled to play their best game.

Springs Galaxy 11 captain Phomelelo Malapane tracks his opponent during their game at the Slovo Park Hlanganani Festive Games in Slovo Park.

“The field wasn’t great, and it took us a while to adjust to the heat.

“We also struggled with the atmosphere, as we’re used to playing in our home ground in Daveyton.

“Nevertheless, I am happy with the win,” says Malatsi.

The team will now face Rockas on Saturday.

For coach Musa Mahlangu, the weekend was not all bad for his team.

Although they lost heavily in the u-19 division, the u-13s performed very well.

“They won their match 2-1, which means they have progressed to the semi-finals.

“This weekend, they will be playing against Siwelele for a spot in the finals,” says Mahlangu.

The organisers of the Slovo Park Hlanganani Festive Games are happy with how the weekend turned out.

“We had some challenges in the beginning and had to cancel the fun run in the morning because of the rain.

“Some of our games were not finished due to time constraints, but, overall, I’d say it was a great weekend.

“It was a learning curve for us, and this weekend we will have the u-13s and u-17s playing,” says one of the organisers, Sydwell Makhwiting.
