Stories for youngsters

Book: Just So Stories Author: Rudyard Kipling Reviewed by: Natasha Kotze Review made possible by: Penguin Books Rating: Entertaining and fanciful

Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories rank among children’s stories such as Winnie the Pooh and Wind in the Willows.

Children between four and eight years enjoy having these stories read to them and older children in their pre-teens have fun reading them by themselves.

I tested this book on my nephews, aged between six and 12, and found that despite the differences in the age, they all enjoyed these witty stories which give fanciful accounts of how and why things came to be as they are.

How did the Leopard get his spots, how did the Elephant get such a long trunk, and where do Armadillos come from?

All these and more are answered in true Kipling style in Just So Stories.

This book is a must-have for children, parents and grandparents.
