All sorts of fun

Heartbreak Hotel review by Natasha Kotze.

Heartbreak Hotel by Deborah Moggach is a funny tale about Russell ‘Buffy’ Buffery who has left London and moved to a decrepit B&B in rural Wales.

In order to fill the beds, he comes up with ‘Courses for Divorces’.

Those who check in include Harold (his wife ran off with a younger woman), Amy (recently dumped) and Andy (the hypochondriac postman who can’t handle his girlfriend).

Buffy teaches them the skill they never thought they’d need again, plus some others they could use.

But there is a whole lot more happening at the B&B and the course offers a few surprises along the way.

This is a clever, well-constructed novel that made me laugh out loud a few times.

It is filled with British humour and will appeal to anyone with a sense of the ridiculous.

This could very well be made into a fun, lively movie.
