In the response to the letter mentioned, Telkom’s spokesman Pynee Chetty stated that our phone lines would be back on by mid July.
It is now nearly the end of July and still no service. Did he perhaps mean mid July 2014?
Since the accident on April 1, it took Telkom until last month to replace the fibre optic converter box. But they have not completed their work as we are still without working telephone lines or ADSL connections.
All that has been done is the erection and painting of a palisade fence around the converter box which took about 10 days to do.
The spokesman for Telkom stated that all customers affected would receive a credit on their telephone accounts.
I would like to know from Telkom if they are going to reimburse their customers for the cost of Internet Service Provider charges which we have had to pay while not being able to use due to Telkom’s incompetence?

* Telkom confirms that its cut over to new infrastructure in the area was successful and all customers in the area now work off the new equipment that was deployed.
There were a few individual line faults subsequent to the infrastructure upgrade that the company was alerted to via the query from the Springs Advertiser.
These have been repaired and services have been restored to normal.
Telkom thanks the residents for their patience during this process.
Customers may dial 10210 to enquire in the event that they have not received a credit on their line rental for the duration of the downtime experienced.
