A disappointing sequel

DVD: Silent Hill: Revelation Reviewed by: Sarah Coughlan Review made possible by: Ster-Kinekor Rating: 5/10

The sequel to the first Silent Hill movie, released in 2006, Silent Hill: Revelations is a disappointment.

The story follows Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) and her father Christopher (Sean Bean) into the twisted town Silent Hill.

Her father had always tried to keep her away from the town, despite her constant dreams about the events that happen there. But on the eve of her 18th birthday, a dangerous revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in a nightmarish landscape forever.

After loving the first Silent Hill, I was expecting big things from the sequel, but was very disappointed when the movie came to an end.

Going back to watch the first one after this one, there are clear gaps between the end of the first film and the start of the second that do not get explained.

The movie has some graphic flaws as well. Being made in 2012, you would expect skin with hooks in it to at least look painful, and scenes that have amazing potential seem to be just thrown together to get them done.

The big battle scenes, of which there are only two, start and end too fast and are not dramatic at all.

The story line is decent but is not backed up by the overall feel of the movie and it could have explained a lot more than it does.

All in all, it was a disappointing film with the potential behind it to be a great one.
