Suspenseful read

Book: The Kill List Author: Frederick Forsyth Reviewed by: Natasha Kotze Review made possible by: Random House Struik Rating: Suspenseful

Forsyth is the master of suspense and does not disappoint in The Kill List.

The Technical Operations Support Activity (Tosa) in Virginia is an agency whose one mission is to track, find and kill those who are so dangerous to the US that they are on the Kill List.

A new name has been added to the list, the frighteningly effective terrorist called the Preacher who recruits and incites young Muslims to carry assassinations.

The Preacher is no fool. Having learned from his predecessors, he operates over the Internet with his face masked so that he doesn’t become ‘visible’ and as such, vulnerable to attack. He doesn’t even use a cellphone, as the signal can be traced.

When army colonel Kit Carson’s father is killed by one of Preacher’s disciples, finding and killing the Preacher becomes his main priority. The hunt takes Carson on a world-wide hunt.

I read Forsyth’s spy thrillers for the plot as he can lay out an exciting plot based on recent events, which makes his stories relevant.

The Kill List takes a look at long distance spying, politics and much, much more.

It makes for a fascinating read and I found it hard to put down. Forsyth knows just how to craft high tension thrillers that will keep you hooked till the last page.
