Opulance at its best
DVD: Behind the Candelabra Starring: Michael Douglas and Matt Damon Reviewed by: Samantha Keogh Review made possible by: SterKinekor

Despite having absolutely no familiarity with the life of Liberace, this movie proved to be an entertaining and interesting romp about the flamboyant pianist and his toy boy Scott Thorson.
Raised in foster home, Scott finds a friend, lover and (most importantly) father in he older man desperately clinging to his youth and his public persona in which his adoring fans cannot know about his sexuality.
While the film feels like its more about Scott than Liberace himself, it is extremely entertaining and gives the audience a great feel for the opulence in which the musician lived.
Despite a messy and cruel break following Liberace’s infidelity with a young musician and Scott’s decision to sue him for support, it is ultimately Scott that Liberace chooses to have with him on his death bed proclaiming “You made me the happiest”.
Whether you are a fan or not, gay or straight, this is a movie well worth giving up two hours for.
