Peru and Bala bid farewell on their last comedy tour

Peru and Bala say farewell to fans at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace on October 10 at 8pm.

After 17 years of record-breaking shows with the Uncles Peru and Bala, Vikash Mathura and Ray Maharaj shocked the entertainment industry with the announcement that they will retire from radio in December.

Fans of these legendary entertainers will have this final opportunity to watch their favourite comic characters bid farewell on stage, whilst bringing down the curtains on an era of their comedy-riots.

In 2013, the Peru and Bala National Tour broke all attendance records in the country for South African Indian comedy.

This year, it promises to be even bigger and better, because it is going to be the Farewell Tour of the country’s favorite comic uncles.

Their joint decision will signify the end of the renowned 22-year broadcasting career of Vikash Mathura, during which he has been consistently ranked as the number one Radio Jockey on a radio station, as well as of Ray Maharaj’s 17-year radio career, during which he too has become a broadcasting institution.

During the past 17 years, Peru and Bala have performed to an estimated 3.5 million fans in more than 400 concerts.

They have produced two best-selling CDs, a best-selling book and have a weekly cartoon series in KZN’s newspaper that has already gone viral around the world.

Their Farewell Tour promises two hours of side-splitting sit-down comedy that will keep their fans in stitches.

It will be another on-stage comedy riot.
