When I read the title of the book, I quickly assumed the book was just about Nombulelo and her adventures with her moth.
Little did I know that it would teach my nephew a lot about self discovery and overcoming fears that most children face when growing up.
Gosh, I had to read and re-read the book to my nephew and his friends; after he boasted that his aunt whisked him to a fantasy world.
Nombulelo and her grandmother had a very close relationship (just like most grandchildren do with their grandmas); never did she imagine in a million years that her beloved grandma would one day be no more.
Being a young girl, she knew nothing about dealing with loss.
Good thing her grandmother left her with her magic moth and stories of the forest which has friendly animals.
After her grandmother’s death she was forced to overcome her fear of the forest and take her grandmother’s moth on a magical adventure in the forest.
This is a beautifully relayed story about a young girl finding herself and discovering she is braver than she thought, after battling with her fears and finding the forest a friendly place to experience.
It promises to be a good read for children aged between five and 10 years of age with its entertaining and educational nature.
