Tsakani – A 43-year-old man masquerading as a metro official working in the City Planning and Human

EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said the man was found in possession of outdated City of Ekurhuleni
(CoE) official documents under the City Planning and Human Settlement departments.
“The woman told the officers the man she was with claimed to be a City of Ekurhuleni employee in the
City Planning Department,” he said.
It is alleged the man promised the woman that if she deposited R30 000 that night, she would the following day
be the happy owner of a stand valued at R60 000, in Extension 11 and 12b.
“On closer inspection, official CoE letters of acceptance (with letterheads), stands with ERF numbers and house
plans were noticed in the man’s possession.
“He immediately confessed that he was trying his luck by defrauding the woman,” Mokheseng explained.

The spokesperson added the conman, who is not employed by the CoE, faces charges of impersonation, possession of official documents and fraud.
He was escorted to the Tsakani Police Station.
“As police were preparing the docket, another victim came to open a fraud case against the man and positively
identified him as the person who recently took R60 000 for a stand before disappearing into thin air.
“The suspect is expected to appear in the Tsakani Magistrate’s Court soon.”
