Selection Park Racquet Club invites the community to pickleball open day

Pickleball lovers of all ages are invited to an exciting open day featuring matches, beginner lessons and family-friendly activities.

The Selection Park Racquet Club is set to host an open day on March 14 at 14:00 aimed at bringing together sports enthusiasts of all ages. The event will feature friendly matches and family-oriented activities.

The courts are located at 1513 Oppenheimer Circle in Selection Park. The club introduced the sport to Springs when they launched their pickleball courts last October.

Club member, Sanet Burger, says they have seen an exciting surge in participation.

“Pickleball has captured the hearts of players across all ages and fitness levels, whether you’re athletic, young or mature, or simply looking for a fun way to stay active.

“As the sport continues to expand and now proudly holds Olympic-recognised status, we’re thrilled to help develop not only the social side of pickleball but also its more competitive pathways,” Burger said.

Attendees can expect engaging tournaments, beginner lessons with experienced instructors and refreshments.

Community members interested in joining are reminded to wear tennis shoes (tekkies), as no other shoes are allowed on the courts.
