Injured dog rescued by community members on R555

The Springs SPCA has praised three residents who stayed with an injured dog until help arrived.

The Springs SPCA expressed their gratitude to three residents, Sibusiso John Ndala, Mateus Da Elisa and Joao Gabriel Filipe of the Mimosa informal settlement, for saving a dog after it was struck by a car.

Described as a brute of a dog, the canine was injured on the R555 road near Eloff Monday night.

According to the SPCA, Ndala made the call for assistance and Da Elisa and Filipe kept the dog safe and warm. The society shared that the three men showed the true meaning of humanity.

“They didn’t just report the accident; they stayed by this boy’s side in the pouring rain, ensuring he wasn’t alone and covered him with a comforter to keep him warm until help arrived,” said SPCA manager Annecia le Roux

“The SPCA shared that the “gentle giant” is currently under the expert care of Dr RG Newby at Selpark Vet. He is being assessed to determine the extent of his injuries and what the road to recovery will look like for him.”

The SPCA thanked the men for calling them and for proving that compassion still exists in a world that has become so cold.
