New cheerleading squad aims to boost spirit at Springs community events

The squad will support local events and Springs Premier Football Club home games.

Young dancers and gymnasts in Springs will soon have the chance to showcase their talent as the Springs Sparkles Cheerleading Squad prepares to host its tryouts on June 1 at Studio K in Selcourt.

The squad will cheer on the sidelines at Springs Premier Football Club home games, Springs Old Boys Cricket Club matches, local fundraisers, and various other community events.

Tryouts will be handled by the studio, including its members aged nine and older, who will audition for a spot on the team.

Studio K’s owner, Keri Thompson, told the publication that the squad’s intention is to basically bring ‘gees’ to local Springs events, and that it is sponsored by the local Hillcrest Pharmacy. She said the squad will be entering dance competitions.

“I’m really excited to start this venture and look forward to bringing sparkle wherever we go.”
