Protea School learners support Vita Nova Centre through community collection drive

Protea School learners and staff joined forces to collect essential items for Vita Nova Centre, making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.

The Vita Nova Centre in Daggafontein, Springs, expressed gratitude to Luciano Barros for organising a collection drive as part of his 18th birthday celebration on June 24.

Through his initiative, and with the assistance of the Protea School’s RCL and students, groceries, clothing, and toys were received by the centre’s residents.

The centre’s manager, Michelle Immelman, thanked Belinda White, Luciano Barros, Herman Pieters, Alexa van Dyk, and Kungawo Kanya for personally delivering the donations and spending meaningful time with the residents.

She stated that beyond the generous donations, it was the genuine interaction, warmth, and companionship that made the day so special.

She said that the residents thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to chat, laugh together, and build connections with the visitors.

“The kindness, patience, and respect shown to each resident made them feel valued, included, and remembered.

“Moments like these remind us that while donations help meet practical needs, the gift of time and human connection is equally important.

“The joy on our residents’ faces and the positive atmosphere created through these interactions will be remembered long after the visit,” shared Immelman.

Immelman expressed that the generosity and community spirit shown by everyone involved have made a real difference in the lives of the residents.
