Dancers reap trophies at DTMA Gauteng Trials
The small group that participated in the trials made the studio very proud.
Dance Directions studio, owned by Mariska Wolmarans, had five students participate in the recent Dance, Talent and Model Academy’s (DTMA) Gauteng Trials.
The competition took place at Woodlands International College in Boksburg, and all the dancers made Wolmarans proud. “Every dancer was on fire on that stage. I’m super proud of all of them that showed that even a little group can achieve a lot,” she said.
Between the five of them, 13 trophies were collected at the competition.
Trophies reaped
Mieke Weyers took the overall best dancer trophies for character (pre-junior novice), disco (pre-amateur junior), creative (pre-amateur) and Latin (pre-junior novice).
Anwiné Daniels took the trophies for open (Bollywood), disco (pre-junior novice), and jazz (pre-junior novice).
Hope Bailey received overall winner trophies for character, creative (senior) and Latin, while Esmari Conradie received trophies for character, disco (junior novice) and creative.
Scores
Roland le Roux got 85.3% for his open Bhangra dance, where he came third; 84.6% for hip-hop duet; 84.9% for character; 83.9% for hip-hop; and 84.9% for contemporary.
Hope Bailey achieved 84.6% for open Bhangra, where she came second; first place in Latin with 88.4%; second in hip-hop with 90.1%; 89.7% in character; and 88.2% in creative.
Mieke Weyers achieved four first placements, two second and one third place. In Latin she achieved 87.3%; 89.5% in open; 88.4% in hip-hop; 87.8% in disco; 85.4% in character; 85.7% in jazz; 89.7% in creative; and 86.4% in contemporary.
Anwiné Daniels got 87.6% for disco; 88% for open Bollywood, where she came first; 87.8% for jazz, with a first place; 88.2% for hip-hop, where she came second; and 87.8% in contemporary, where she came in third.
Esmari Conradie got 86.3% for open Bhangra, where she came second; 86.6% in hip-hop, where she came third; 84.6% in hip-hop duet; 85.3% in contemporary; 82.5% in disco; 85.1% in lyrical; 84.2% in character; 84.5% in jazz; and 85.2% in creative, where she came in first.
