Gunmen flee with cash after robbery at Ackermans store at Palm Springs Shopping Centre

Police are investigating following a robbery at a store in the Springs CBD.

Police have launched an investigation after a robbery at Ackermans in the Palm Springs Shopping Centre in the Springs CBD on July 6.

According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Charity Zwane, the store’s cashier was on duty with her supervisor, assisting a customer, when an unknown man approached and went behind the counter.

“The suspect pointed to a firearm tucked into his waistband. She stated that she observed a second man who also had a firearm tucked into his waistband.

“The suspects proceeded to remove an undisclosed amount of cash from the tills, placed the money into a plastic bag, and fled the scene on foot,” Zwane said.

She added that it is further alleged that gunshots were fired outside the shop as the suspects fled.

“No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made at this stage. An investigation is underway,” she concluded.
