Woman found dead at Springs Train Station subway as murder investigation begins

Police are investigating after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered at the train station subway with signs of possible strangulation.

The Springs police are investigating a murder case after the discovery of a woman’s body at the Springs Train Station subway on July 13.

According to local SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Charity Zwane, officers responded to a report of an unnatural death.

“Upon arrival, members met with a security officer who pointed out the body of an unidentified woman lying on the ground. The deceased had visible marks around her neck indicating possible strangulation.

“The scene was poorly lit, and members had to use torches to conduct the initial examination,” Zwane said.

She added that the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this stage.

“The scene was processed, and the investigation into a case of murder is underway,” she said.
