Fatigued truck driver hijacked on N12 highway

A couple of hours later the truck was recovered in eMalahleni without the two trailers

A tired and exhausted truck driver was hijacked on the route to Mozambique from Cape Town.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 8 at 16:00; the driver was travelling in his white Volvo truck.

As the driver was travelling on the N12 highway he noticed a vehicle travelling behind him, started flashing lights at him.

The truck driver pulled over and a white Volkswagen Polo stopped behind the truck with two trailers.

The unknown person came to the driver’s side of the truck and allegedly he was wearing police uniform.

The unknown person told the truck driver that he wanted to check the truck and told the driver to open up the passenger door.

As the driver leant over to open the passenger door, five more unknown men overpowered him.

The truck driver was ordered to jump into the bed section of the truck; one suspect drove the truck.

Near Bapsfontein the suspect dropped the truck driver off in the bushes.

A couple of hours later the truck was recovered in eMalahleni without the two trailers.

The suspects are unknown to the truck driver.
