Vosman Police net two suspects for illegal firearms

Vosman Police received a tip-off about a man involved in an armed robbery at a take-way franchise in Tasbet Park.

Two suspects aged 35 and 27 appeared before Witbank Magistrate’s Court last week in connection with armed robberies.

The Acting Station Commander of Vosman, Colonel Gayane Mashego, said one of the suspects was arrested for an armed robbery that took place at Extension 14 where a shop was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects.

Vosman Police spotted a vehicle that was involved in the robbery on Wednesday, July 26, passing them driving at a high speed and without a registration number.

The victim who is believed to be an Ethiopian national was reportedly robbed with his cousin during stock-taking inside their shop.

According to the victim, his cousin tried to enter the shop when two men in a Chevrolet utility bakkie stopped in front of the shop.

Both the victim and his cousin were allegedly forced to the ground and threatened with firearms by the suspects who then demanded money from them.

It is alleged that the suspects stole a Tupperware container that had R1 500 in coins before they fled the scene.

Two police members managed to arrest one of the suspects and also confiscated the firearm and the bakkie for further investigation.

According to reports, Vosman Police received a tip-off the same day about a man who was involved in an armed robbery that took place at a take-way franchise in Tasbet Park on Tuesday, July 25.

Police managed to spot the suspect when he and his girlfriend were leaving a doctor’s surgery.

The suspect supposedly led the police to Extension 14 where he hired a room with his girlfriend as he is from Kwaggafontein.
