SAPS shuts down illegal alcohol operation in Ogies

Seven suspects have been charged with contravention of the Liquor Act and the Immigration Act.

Seven individuals were arrested in Ogies after police discovered an illegal alcohol manufacturing operation in the area.

According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo, on June 27, police responded to reports of suspicious activity at a plot in Ogies.

Upon arrival, they reportedly found large quantities of unlabelled alcohol, brewing equipment, chemicals and packaging.

Seven suspects found on the premises were arrested and charged with contravention of the Liquor Act.

Charges of contravention of the Immigration Act were later added after further investigation revealed that they were all undocumented foreign nationals.
