Young gymnasts to represent SA in Italy

Danielle and Celine became a pair of gymnasts in the beginning of 2018

Two young gymnasts, Danielle Seejiram (16) and Celine Gould (11), are invited to represent South Africa at the Turin Acro Cup in Italy.

The two days competition will take place from 12 to 14 July this year and they will depart for the event on July 8.

The girls have been preparing for this amazing opportunity and are very excited to be going overseas to represent not only the country but also our very own town.

Danielle and Celine became a pair of gymnasts in the beginning of 2018.

They worked hard in the last year, and occupied the first and second places at most of the competitions they participated in.

Their coach, Matome Tshishonga is very proud of the girls that they will be competing in Italy.

“I am proud to coach the girls. It is the best achievement I have ever achieved as a gymnastics coach,” he said.

Unfortunately he cannot travel with them to Italy because of the lack of sponsors.

In preparing them for the competition, he has been taking them to Benoni to practice with other gymnasts who are also invited to compete in the Turin Acro Cup.

He added that it is a great experience for the girls and he is hoping that they will bring the cup home.

As part of their fundraising for the trip, they are hosting a golf day at Witbank Golf Club on May 17 to gather enough funds to go to Italy.

The pair is also invited to compete in the South African Gym Games in Cape Town in September and World Champions in Europe in 2020.
