No water next week

Residents must prepare for a total water shutdown at the end of February.

On February 20 there will not be a drop of water and the entire city will be affected as the main reservoir (Point D) will then be cleaned.

The Department of Water Affairs appointed Rand Water as an implementation agent for the Upgrade of Key Bulk Water Infrastructure Programme at Emalahleni Local Municipality and Isiphethu Water Services as a consulting engineer.

Part of the scope of works is to clean reservoirs in order to improve the water quality; hence it is necessary that a planned water shutdown is carried out in order to perform this activity. It is anticipated that the planned shutdown for each reservoir will last 24 hours.

Here are the reservoir dates and areas affected:
*February 14 Phola and Ogies will have no water.
*February 16 Ogies will have no water.
*February 18  Point C Tower and Point C 10ML –  Witbank Ext 16, -Del Judor ext 2, Del Judor ext 12, Del Judor ext 6, Del Judor ext 10, Del Judor ext 20, Del Judor ext 16, Del Judor ext 18, Del Judor ext 17, Ben Fleur extensions, Reyno Ridge extensions, Witbank Ext 20, Del Judor ext 11, Del Judor ext 16, Del Judor ext 5, The Ridge Casino, Corridor Hill, -Tasbet park ext 1, recreational resort, Bankenveld extensions, Ben Fleur ext 3, Ben Fleur shopping complex, Tasbet Park ext 12, Tasbet Park ext 9, Tasbet Park ext 10, Tasbet Park ext 7 and Naauwpoort.
*February 20 10ML Point D – Emalahleni, Ogies and Phola.
*February 28 – Rietspruit.
March 3 – Ga-Nala ext 10, shopping centre and old age home.

Water tankers shall be provided to hospitals and at strategic points in the affected areas of the town.
