Hit-and-run victim dies
On a chilly Sunday night when most residents had curled up in their beds to rest from the weekend a man was involved in a hit and run, which he may have survived.
Another two cars allegedly drove over him after the collision.
Mr Sydney Mhlanga (27), was on his way home to Molly’s Farm when he was met by misfortune.
A witness said that as Mhlanga was crossing the road, a motorist came speeding, hit him and he fell.
Mhlanga was allegedly still alive after the accident, which happened on March 30 just outside Springbok Village entrance at about 21:45. The driver of the car allegedly just drove on and did not stop to see if the man was alright or needed medical attention.
“It was the next two cars that killed Sydney,” said the witness who wished to remain anonymous.
The witness said that he spoke to Mhlanga after the first collision, but they could not move him out of the road in time. “Another car came and I ran out trying to flag it down, but it did not see Sydney and it drove over him,” said the witness. He alleged that soon after the second car, a third car drove over him, which led to his death.
Mhlanga allegedly sustained multiple injuries due to the impact from the cars’ tyres and tar road.
Mhlanga was an employee at Bella Honeyborne Farm and he was identified by his uncle, Lucas Madlala. He was unable to comment at the scene of the accident and attempts afterwards to get a comment were unsuccessful.
