A resident from Tasbet Park was angry that her complaints fell on deaf ears.
Mrs Nomvula Hleza has had enough of the empty promises of the municipality.
“They came to our houses and dug up this trench and now they fail to come back and close it,” said Hleza.
She added that there are young children who play in the streets, especially now during school holidays. Residents cannot guarantee that their children and that of neighbours are safe there.
The trench was dug up on March 24 due to a faulty pipe which needed repairing. However municipal workers have since come and gone without closing up the hole.
“They damaged my paving too and used some of my bricks to close another hole, but did not inform me before doing so,” she said.
Municipal spokesperson, Mr Lebohang Mofokeng said, “The municipality is currently experiencing unrest and will respond to all complaints as soon as the situation is settled. The municipality apologizes for any inconvenience caused.”
