The first incident happened on Wednesday, April 10 at approximately 01:30 at Computer Specialist in Stevenson Street.
Mr Riaan Klaassens closed the shop at 17:30 the day before and made sure everything was locked up.
Eight hours after locking up, Klaassens received a phone call from the security company that informed him that there had been a break in.
When Klaassens arrived at the shop, he found that one of the gates was wide open. He went around and found that the storeroom window was broken.
“They stole a couple of laptops and screens which were pulled through the window with a hook of some sort. It’s not the first time that they have broken into the shop,” said Klaassens.
A large amount of items were stolen, a case was opened at Witbank SAPS for further investigation.
Another business that was broken into was the Funeral Home that is owned by Mr Cornelius Koekemoer.
The Funeral Home was broken into between Saturday late afternoon, April 12 and Sunday morning, April 13.
“Well it’s very sad that they have no respect for the dead,” said Koekemoer.
“Somehow they managed to open the electronic garage door and that is how they got in,” said Koekemoer.
Inside the business, they took some of the office items, sugar, milk, kettle and a radio.
“Its funny how a business owner always tries to make their business safe and secure and how you make it look nice inside. Then one night they come in and destroy everything,” said Koekemoer.
According to Koekemoer most of the businesses around him were broken into since Thursday night.
“The ironic thing is that is that they only took small items that they could carry away,” said Koekemoer.
Since the recent break in, Koekemoer has carried on with his business.
“God will help me get through this,” continued Koekemoer.
