Ga-Nala is in very capable hands

The first impression you get when you meet the new station commander at Kriel Police Station is that this man carries the welfare of the community at heart.

In his office, wedged between one meeting after another, he made time for a friendly chat.
Lieutenant Colonel Herold Mashile took over the reins at Kriel Police on April 1.

He started his career in 1989 in Gauteng where he was placed in the Riot Unit which is presently known as the Crime Combating Unit. He widened his horizons and further worked in other components also within the station in the same province such as Visible Policing, Supply Chain and Training.

“I had dreams of becoming a soldier,” he shared a bit of his childhood.
When the opportunity to become a policeman knocked on the door, he grabbed it with both hands.
Lt-Col Mashile shares his passion for his career with his wife, three sons and a daughter. They support him in all his endeavours.
If time allows, he plays a little bit of soccer and can also tell you a story or two about rugby.

“We have to keep fit and therefore I promote a healthy lifestyle and I encourage my members to play soccer,” he said.
Lt-Col Mashile believes that a passionate policeman is categorised as a person who respects and upholds the constitution.
“A true policeman is one who does not tolerate disloyalty and ill-discipline and he or she enforces the law without fear or favour,” he said.

“I am appealing for community support and encourage working together in fighting crime through community participation in Community Policing Forums. And also in preventing and reducing the level of property crime in the area, especially burglary residential, theft of motor vehicles, by engaging with the police. Maximum arrest on drugs will be reached, which is one of the contributing crime factors. We will strive for excellence in serving the community and work together with the community in squeezing crime to zero.”

For effective service delivery Lt-Col Mashile said residents of the beautiful town he has taken under his wing, must make sure they have the following numbers stored on their cell phones:
*Kriel station commander – Lieutenant Colonel Herold Mashile: 017 648 2266/7 Ext 215.
