Updates from the Administrator Theo van Vuuren

Electricity:
The team is currently installing a faulty (blown) inter-switch in Antelope Street near Pick Pay in Reyno Ridge therefore the team has switched off one feeder at Dixon sub. Estimated time for power restoration is 4 hours from now.

A cable has been damaged also in Tasbet Park which is affecting Tasbet 1 and 2 which also needs to be repaired.

The team is currently busy with a fault in Lynnville which will still take approximately an hour still

The entire area of Klarinet extensions is without electricity due to attempted cable theft on the bulk supply cable to Klarinet . It will take the whole day to repair estimate 8:00 tonight

Water:
Water in Tasbet park should be restored, Duvha park the team is unable to find the problem as to why theres no water, please inform me if you are aware of pipe breaks. I also need addresses of no water in Duvha park.

We also now received reports from x5 and will follow up on it.

Land Invasionss:
Following the events at KwaGuqa I met with a committee representing that area and we had a fruitful discussion on issues they are concerned about. Tomorrow we will be meeting the community to take this discussions further. The immediate issues of road closures and protest were normalised yesterday for the moment.

Staff protest action:
Following the problems of a while ago we will be in a reconciliation meeting tomorrow. The municipality will be defending the motion to get a certificate issued which will enable a strike to follow. There is still a valid interdict in place preventing any illegal strike actions.

I remain hopeful that we will be able to reach a point where the problem situation regarding the structure will be put behind us. In terms of legislation the management team has proceeded with a review and made significant progress in reviewing the structure to align it to the strategies of the municipality.

Some success:
1. The substation where we found the placates and homeless people a week ago as reported earlier in X 10 has been demolished and we will start the process of putting the land out on tender soon. Following this the number of incidents in house braking in that area has also been reduced significantly.

2.The municipal staff sports teams have done well during a recent provincial event and has won gold in amongst others pool and soccer. The photos below were taken this week when they came to my office to hand me the trophy’s. I am proud of them, we are also seeing the positive and performance based culture returning amongst some groups and that will serve the community well.
