Big pool of pooh

The municipality has been trying its best to return the ratings of service delivery since eMalahleni has been under administration.

The management have however been unable to do so much during the given space of time. It seems though that some problems within the municipality are receiving priority over others.

The Klipfontein Dam has been forming a new dam on its side of the main dam. The difference is the dam on the side is made of faeces and all other human waste that ends up in our sewer systems. The pool of pooh has been forming for months now and the stench is unbearable on most days.

The pool is a ghastly site to passing motorists on the N12 and the residents that are living near that area are faced with a health hazard as it stinks around that area and the pooh attracts all kinds of insects there.

The Klipfontein Dam is supposed to be a site of admiration and a place of harmony to have a picnic or take an afternoon stroll, but with its current condition it makes it hard for residents to even go there and enjoy their weekend braai. Meat burning and pooh in the air won’t sit so well in the stomachs of many, unless their guts are very thick and sense of smell almost non-existent.

Residents have made numerous attempts to get the municipality out to fix the problem, but nothing has been done thus far. Attempts to solicit an answer regarding the mass of pooh at the dam were unfruitful.

The residents around the Uthingo Park, Tasbet Park 1 and 2 are worried that if the municipality does nothing, then they will be put in danger of getting diseases from the smell and the contamination that can occur due to the raw sewerage running above land.
