A number of houses were affected by the strange thefts of taps on Friday, May 2.
Houses mostly in the township lost their water taps through theft. Residents suspected that the theft was due to their taps being sold to scrap yards by drugs users.
The residents suggested that scrap yards owners must also play their part by refusing to accept water taps and report the people bringing them to the police. “They need to play their part; we must all fight crime because one way or the other it all affects us all. We want to warn them that they need to cooperate with us as residents and the police. T
hey must not accept stolen items, one can easily recognise stolen items,” said one of the affected resident.
