eMalahleni’s Beauty Teens

After the very long trip to Bodrum, Turkey (an almost 20 hour flight)… enjoying Star Bucks coffee, Burger King, endless shopping, rehearsals, tanning on a yacht, visiting the Black Island, meeting new friends from across the world and staying in the beautiful five-star Kefaluka Resort… the Beauties took part in the 23rd annual Little/ Junior Miss World pageant and blew away the competition.

The proud parents and family members who had travelled with to support the delegates from eMalahleni, were trilled and so very proud of their talented contestants.
“The competition, especially the talent show, was very tough. The Russian girls with their long legs did beautiful ballet performances,” Tenaé’s mother, Cindy van Niekerk, recalled. “Then came Tenaé, who did a hip-hop performance. She was shorter than the other girls and also in the younger age group.”
The contestants competing for the Miss World Junior 2014 ranged from ages 15 to 17.
Not only did Tenaé win the title but was also ‘Best of the Best’ – obtaining the highest score in the senior division throughout the entire pageant.

Tenaé (also currant Miss Teen Greater Witbank) remains humble about the big title, giving her supporting family and her coach, Andries du Preez a lot of the credit. “I wasn’t really nervous during the competition, because everyone was so nice and friendly. Even though we were competing against each other, they were all still so nice and it really made me feel comfortable.”

To have been considered for a title like Miss World Junior, contestants also have to be involved with a lot of charity work.
The charities Tenaé is currently ambassador for are:
Rispah homes for homeless children
Reach for a dream foundation
Teddy Bear clinic for abused children
Friends of Loskop – Save the Rhino campaign
Cansa Association
Then she is also providing food parcels to two families in eMalahleni on a monthly basis.  She contributes to the ‘sarmie’ project at her school where they take sandwiches to local schools for children who don’t have any lunch.

Monique, who was crowned Miss Globe Junior 2014, also did her family and friends proud. The ‘Miss Teen Black Pearl of the Highveld’, ‘Miss Teen Community’ and ‘Miss Teen Heart of the Heartland’ wears her new title well with a dazzling smile.

Monique is also very active in the community and shows that she truly has a heart of gold when she gives back to those in need.
Amongst many other projects she has:
Paid for groceries for the elderly
Donated Teddy Bears to the Teddy Bear clinic for abused children
Donated furniture to needy families
Raised funds for the Nkangala project: Save the Rhino and Cansa
She also made Christmas and the holidays extra special for the people at Potter Baker Childcare, Cosmos Care Centre Clinic and Highveld Child Welfare.
