This project has been introduced to a couple of schools in eMalahleni and it has really opened up the eyes of the teachers.
On Wednesday, July 2 at 13:30 police received a tip off about a person in possession of drugs. When the police arrived at this particular address they found a suspect who had heroin and dagga.
The suspect was arrested and taken to Witbank Police Station. He appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, July 3 and the case was postponed until September 17.
On the same day police were patrolling in Klipfontein area, when they noticed a man walk over to a woman.
He looked very suspicious as he handed food over to the woman, police stopped to investigate the situation.
The police then found dagga on top of the food that was handed over to the woman. The suspect explained to the police that his girlfriend was the one smoking dagga.
The police arrested the suspect immediately for the possession of dagga. The total value of the dagga is R1000.
On July 3 the suspect appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court for the possession of dagga. His case was postponed until July 10 for further investigation.
On Sunday, July 6 at 15:00 a constable, who was on duty patrolling from Witbank Police Station, received information about someone selling drugs at Paxton dumping site.
At the dump site he noticed the suspect, who dropped something on the ground.
The constable picked up the parcel on the ground and confronted the suspect about it.
As the constable asked questions, the suspect said that he was selling drugs for a certain person. The 28-year-old was arrested and taken to Witbank Police Station.
He appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 7 and the case was postponed until Monday, July 14.
“Witbank SAPS has a zero tolerance policy towards drug related crimes,” said Captain Eddie Hall, spokesperson for Witbank SAPS.
