The incident occurred early on Wednesday, August 13 at 09:00 in Extension 10.
Ms J. Boshoff (70) was in her home when she suddenly saw two unknown men enter the house through the back door.
One of the suspects took a knife out and pushed it up against Boshoff’s back, taking her cell phone from her.
Then they forced her to the main bedroom where they got a fright.
“They did not know that my stepfather was also in the house at the time, and when they got to the main bedroom they saw him,” said Boshoff’s daughter.
They beat Boshoff’s husband, demanding money.
Boshoff started shouting for help and the men ran away.
“My stepfather, who is 75, was taken to hospital where he was later discharged. He sustained a severe concussion and the doctor said it could take up to three months to come right,” continued the daughter.
One of the suspects were arrested and appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court.
“My parents were the third people that were broken into on that day. And we are still not sure how they gained entry into the house,” said the daughter.
