Several of these drug arrests were made in Old Coronation.
A constable was on duty when he received information regarding an alleged drug dealer, selling dagga from his stand in Old Coronation.
On September 7 at 23:30 found the suspect asleep. The officers searched the premises and dagga worth several thousands of rands. The resident of the property was arrested and charged with possession of drugs.
On September 8 at 00:30 they arrested another suspect for possession, when he was found with drugs with a street value of several thousand rands at his residence in Old Coronation. The suspect apparently had 102 yellow plastic pouches containing a drug in the form of white powder.
Several drugs other than cocaine can also take on a white powdery form such as Kat, according to the South African National Council against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (SANCA) database of various drugs.
On Saturday, September 6 three men were arrested for possession of drugs. Witbank SAPS officer was patrolling the Central Business District (CBD) when he came across a silver Suzuki parked at a garage. The driver and two passengers looked suspicious so the officer approached them.
As he searched their vehicle, the officer apparently found a bag of dagga hidden underneath the passenger seat. All three suspects were arrested.
The first arrest for the week happened on September 3. Police approached a group of young men at the taxi rank in the CBD. One of the people was found with dagga in his possession and was arrested at about 07:45 as people were making their way to work. A minor arrest was also made on Friday, September 5 when police arrested a suspect on a street corner in the CBD. He was apparently in possession of several hundred rands worth of dagga.
