On September 29 the man, who allegedly introduced himself to police as ‘Colonel Mokwela’, appeared for the second time in the court after his first appearance on September 22.
‘Colonel Mokwela’ took to the stand in B-Court and was granted bail at R1 500. He was also told to report to the nearest police station every Friday until the date of his next appearance, which is December 12.
The case was postponed for further investigations as a number of police officials are able to testify to the allegations made against ‘Colonel Mokwela’.
‘Colonel Mokwela’ was arrested on September 19 at Witbank Police Station when he allegedly attempted to have a vehicle released from 13th Room.
The vehicle, a Toyota Yaris, was confiscated by state when police arrested its driver for dealing in (and transporting) at least 100kg of dagga.
‘Colonel Mokwela’ has a previous conviction, which will likely count against him in his court hearing, that for dealing in a prohibited substance, for which he was arrested in December 2000 by South African Narcotics Bureau.
