Police have put pressure on the narcotics trade within eMalahleni making at least 10 arrests in the past week.
One of the arrests that took place on January 22 saw Visual Policing (Vispol) and the Tactical Response Team working side by side to make two separate arrests in which R600 worth of Kat was confiscated and monies to the value of R690. The arrest took place at the corner of Eadie and Willie Streets.

R600 worth of narcotics and R690 in notes was confiscated by police.
Other arrests include two men who were arrested on January 20 for the possession of dagga, one was arrested on the foot bridge at Old Coronation and the other at MNS settlement.
Another two dagga related arrests took place on January 22, additionally a 27-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of four pinches to the value of R300. The following day police arrested a man in possession of dagga, he was arrested in Watermeyer Street at about 22:00.
More arrests occurred on January 24. An inmate in Paxton was charged with possession of dagga after being found in possession of 14 packs when correctional officers conducted a cell search.
While out on patrol in the Central Business District police searched a man under suspicious and found him in possession of nine balls of plastic containing drugs, he had attempted to hide the drugs in his mouth.
Another arrest was carried out close to the police station in which police searched a man and found him in possession, he was immediately detained.
