Assault case postponed

Court C had a busy day with the court room being fairly full with suspects that faced different charges; their family members were there with them to hear the fate of their loved ones. As soon as the court was in progress on January 28 it was all systems go.

There were a couple of postponements in most cases. A man who was charged with negligence and reckless driving pleaded guilty on the crime brought against him. His lawyer asked for the case to be postponed to another date for extensive further investigations, where amongst other things that must be done they are waiting for a report that will indicate if indeed he was drunk driving as alleged.

Another case that was before court was that of two women who took to the stand facing charges of assault, this case was a matter that was transferred from Court B, the two women did not plead guilty on the alleged charges brought against them. When asked by the magistrate if they wanted to apply for legal aid, they refused and said they will represent themselves.

The case was postponed for further investigations where their next appearance is scheduled for May 16, where the magistrate asked them to bring along witnesses who were there on the day when the incident happened in order to prove their innocence.
