During the operation ten suspects in possession of drugs were arrested, three for public drinking and one for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The police stated that in total 14 cases of fraud were reported and are investigated and they are on the rise, the police are concerned about the trend.

The police also reported that on Thursday, February18 at about 14:00 at Vosman in Extension 17, a 35 year-old male reported that he was at home and when he checked his phone he noticed a message that his sim card has been damaged. He took out the card and did a sim swap. When he switched on the phone, he noticed a message again that indicated his correct number followed by another message. The other message stated that R5 000 has been withdrawn from his account. He went to the bank and reported the matter.

A case of fraud is being investigated.

According to the police for the past week two cases of internet fraud cases were reported to them.
In the past police has warned people to watch out for these card skimming tricks and PIN theft tricks criminals use. It was reported that South Africans criminals are using advanced card skimming and PIN theft devices to commit card fraud.

Card skimming and counterfeit fraud remains a big problem in South Africa with criminals using sophisticated technologies to catch unsuspecting victims.

The South African Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC) report showed that they had a lot of skimming device that were recovered by either the SAPS or bank investigators over the last decade.
